Upgradation and Allocation of 1467 UDC Posts to Assistant Grade in Central Secretariat Service (CSS)

U

In a significant move to streamline and enhance the Central Secretariat Service (CSS), the government has formally approved the allocation of 1467 upgraded Assistant Grade posts across various ministries and departments. This decision stems from a comprehensive cadre restructuring initiative that saw Upper Division Clerks (UDCs) elevated to the Assistant Grade. Initially, these upgraded positions were filled on an ad-hoc basis, but a recent approval has now distributed these roles among 42 distinct cadre-units. As a direct consequence of this restructuring, the sanctioned strength of the Upper Division Grade within the Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS) will see a corresponding reduction, with new strengths to be officially notified soon. This strategic adjustment aims to optimize personnel deployment and career progression within the central government machinery.
