Seniority and Year of Allotment for State Civil Service Officers Appointed to IAS, Punjab Cadre

S

A recent administrative directive outlines the meticulous process for determining the seniority and year of allotment for officers transitioning from the State Civil Service into the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS) for the Punjab Cadre. This crucial exercise, governed by the IAS (Regulation of Seniority) Rules of 1987, involves a detailed weightage formula based on an officer’s completed years of qualifying service. For instance, 12 years of service translate to 3 years of weightage, progressively increasing to a maximum of 9 years for 27 or more years of service.

The directive specifically addresses officers from the Select Lists of 2021 and 2022. It meticulously details the continuous service record in the State Civil Service, the total weightage earned, and the resulting year of allotment. Furthermore, it clarifies the placement of these newly allotted IAS officers in relation to existing IAS officers, ensuring a clear hierarchy. For the 2021 list, officers are placed below Shri Ravinder Singh and above Dr. Sona Thind. Similarly, for the 2022 list, officers are placed below Shri Viraj Shyamkarn Tidke and above Shri Harpreet Singh. These assignments are vital for career progression and administrative clarity within the civil services.
