In a significant administrative decision, the final allocation of a Senior Assistant, Smt. Uzma Nikhat, working under the Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, has been officially revised from Andhra Pradesh to Telangana. This change follows a directive from the Hon’ble High Court of Telangana, which had reviewed her initial allocation. The court emphasized considering humanitarian aspects, including her spouse’s factor, when making the revised placement. Subsequently, the Advisory Committee, after due consideration and adhering to allocation guidelines, approved this shift based on humanitarian grounds, including medical hardship criteria. The Government of India has now accepted these recommendations, exercising its powers under the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, to formalize her move. The State Government of Telangana is now tasked with accommodating Smt. Uzma Nikhat against an available Senior Assistant vacancy in the Director General of Prisons office. Should an immediate vacancy not be present, the government is authorized to allow her to continue in her current arrangement or even create a supernumerary post to ensure her placement, until a regular position becomes available.
