The Department of Personnel & Training has issued an office memorandum outlining new instructions regarding the relaxation of Child Care Leave rules for female and single male Central Government employees. The decision, made after consultation with the Department of Expenditure and the National Council (JCM), allows leave sanctioning authorities to relax the existing rules and grant up to three additional spells of Child Care Leave in a calendar year. OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject: Instructions for conferring the power to relax the spells of Child Care Leave to the Leave Sanctioning Authority in the Ministries and Departments under the Government of India – regarding.
This Department has been considering relaxation of the spells of Child Care Leave, admissible under Rule 43-C(3)(i) of the CCS (Leave) Rules 1972, to female Central Government employees and single male Central Government employees in case of medical treatment of the child, in public interest, in consultation with Department of Expenditure and National Council (JCM).
- As a welfare measure, it has now been decided that, the leave sanctioning authorities in the Ministries or Departments under the Government of India are bestowed with the power to relax up to a maximum of three spells beyond the existing three spells of Child Care Leave in a calendar year, under Rule 43-C(3)(i) of the CCS (Leave) Rules 1972, to female Central Government employees and single male Central Government employees in case their child is admitted in a hospital as inpatient.
- These orders shall be effective from the date of issuance of this office Memorandum.
