Order Regarding Revision of Seniority List and Provisional Interpolation of SC/ST Officers

O

The Supreme Court ordered a revision of results for Section Officers/Stenographers (Grade B/Grade-I) in the 1996 Limited Departmental Competitive Examination, providing reservation and relief to appellants. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) revised the merit list of LDCE 1996 and nominated additional SC/ST candidates. The Department of Personnel & Training (DOPT) included these officers in the Section Officer Select List of 1996. A revised Common Seniority List was issued. These officers are to be considered for further promotion, requiring a review of Under Secretary Select Lists (USSLs) from 2004. A Screening Committee mechanism has been adopted for their provisional interpolation in the USSLs. This provisional interpolation does not confer permanency and is subject to review and court orders.
