This official order from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Government of India, announces the change in nomenclature for several posts within the Central Secretariat Service (CSS) and Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS). Effective immediately, the posts of Assistant will be renamed Assistant Section Officer (ASO). Upper Division Clerk will now be known as Senior Secretariat Assistant (SSA), and Lower Division Clerk will be Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA). The order also states that necessary amendments to the Central Secretariat Service Rules, 2009, and Central Secretariat Clerical Service Rules, 1962, will follow. Copies of this order are to be distributed to all participating Ministries/Departments, officers of CSS/CSCS, and the Department’s website.

Order
Approval of the competent authority is hereby conveyed for change of
nomenclature of the posts of Assistant of Central Secretariat Service (CSS) and
Upper Division Clerk and Lower Division Clerk of Central Secretariat Clerical Service
(CSCS), as under:
