This office memorandum from the Ministry of Personnel & Public Grievances & Pensions clarifies the licensing and registration fees for departmental canteens in Central Government Offices operating under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Canteens with an annual turnover of less than Rs. 12 lakhs will be registered for a fee of Rs. 100 per annum, while those exceeding this turnover will be licensed for Rs. 2000 per annum. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is organizing an on-spot registration camp on August 7th, 2018, for canteens with lower turnovers, requiring Aadhar/PAN card, a passport-sized photo, employer ID, and the registration fee. All ministries and departments are requested to nominate canteen staff for this camp. The memorandum also lists various government bodies to whom the communication is being disseminated.

OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Non-Statutory Departmental Canteens functioning in Central Government Offices – procuring License under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and Rules & Regulations framed thereunder.

The undersigned is directed to refer to this Department’s O.M. No. 10/1/2004-Dir.(C) dated 30.05.2016 on the above subject and to say that Food Safety & Standards Authority of India has rationalized the license/registration fee for Departmental tiffin rooms/canteens functioning in Central Government Offices. All the Non-Statutory departmental tiffin rooms/canteens having turnover of less than Rs. 12 lakhs per annum would be registered on payment of fee Rs. 100/- per annum and those having turnover of more than Rs. 12 lakhs would be licensed on payment of fee Rs. 2000/- per annum.

  1. As a facilitation measure, FSSAI is organising an on-spot registration camp for departmental canteens having turnover less than Rs. 12 lakhs per annum at FSSAI-HQ on 7th August, 2018. The following documents are required for on-spot registration:-

    i) Aadhar Card/PAN Card

    ii) One Passport size photo

    iii) Employer ID Card

    iv) Fee i.e. Rs 100 (registration fee)

  2. All the Ministries/Departments who have not registered their departmental canteens under Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 are requested to nominate individual from Canteen Staff for the said on-spot registration camp.
