A recent government announcement has detailed a significant inter-state transfer within the Indian Administrative Service. Ms. Rashmi Rani, an IAS officer from the 2021 batch previously serving in the Tamil Nadu cadre, has been officially transferred to the Rajasthan cadre. This pivotal move, enacted by the Central Government with the full agreement of both the Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan State Governments, is attributed to her marriage to Shri Kartikeya Verma, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 2023 batch currently posted in Rajasthan. The transfer aligns with the provisions of sub-rule (2) of Rule 5 of the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954, which permits such personnel changes on compassionate grounds. Administrative directives have been issued to the respective Chief Secretaries of Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan to ensure the prompt relief of Ms. Rani from her current duties and her seamless integration into her new cadre.
