This notification announces the appointment of Professor David R. Syiemlieh as the Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), effective from the afternoon of April 3, 2017. The appointment is made by the President under Article 316(1) of the Constitution of India. His tenure will extend until January 21, 2018, or until he attains the age of 65, whichever is earlier. His salary, allowances, and other service conditions will continue to be governed by the UPSC (Members) Regulations, as applicable on his appointment date of January 4, 2017, under Article 316(1A) of the Constitution.

सं.39019/04/2016-स्था.(ख) (भाग) : भारत के संविधान के अनुच्छेद 316 खण्ड (1) के अंतर्गत राष्ट्रपति दिनांक 3 अप्रैल, 2017 के अपराह्न से प्रोफेसर डेविड आर. साईमतीह को संघ लोक सेवा आयोग का अध्यक्ष नियुक्त करते हैं। भारत के संविधान के अनुच्छेद 316 (2) के प्रावधानों के अनुसार उनकी नियुक्ति की अवधि 21.01.2018 तक होगी, जब वे 65 वर्ष की आयु प्राप्त करेंगे।
2. उनके वेतन, भर्त्ता तथा अन्य सेवा शर्तों को संघ लोक सेवा आयोग (सदस्य) विनियमावली द्वारा अभिशासित किया जाता रहेगा जो अनुच्छेद (1क) के अधीन उनकी नियुक्ति की तारीख अर्थात् 04.01.2017 को लागू थी।
