The central government has recently announced a significant administrative decision concerning an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. Shri Utkarsh Anand, an IAS officer from the 2022 batch originally allocated to the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been transferred to the Haryana cadre. This transfer was approved on the grounds of marriage, as he is married to Ms. Anjali Shrotriya, also an IAS officer from the 2022 batch, who is serving in the Haryana cadre. This administrative action was executed in accordance with the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954, specifically utilizing the powers granted under sub-rule (2) of Rule 5, and followed obtaining the necessary consent from both the Uttar Pradesh and Haryana state governments. This move reflects the government’s standard procedure for facilitating inter-cadre transfers in civil services based on personal circumstances such as marriage, ensuring smooth functioning of administration while considering an officer’s personal life.
