Nomination of Cooks and Chefs for Training Session on Cooking with Millets

The Department of Personnel and Training has issued a memorandum requesting nominations of cooks and chefs from various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India to attend a training session on “Cooking with Millets”. This initiative is part of the International Year of Millets 2023 and aims to promote millet consumption and its health benefits. The training session, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, will be conducted by chefs from the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) in Pusa, New Delhi, on August 26-27, 2023. Ministries are asked to nominate at least 2-3 cooks from their non-statutory departmental canteens in Delhi. Details of the nominated participants need to be sent to Sh. Vijaykumar Hokrani by August 23rd.

Subject: Nomination of Cooks & Chefs across Canteens of Ministries/Department for participation in “Cooking with Millets-Training Session for Chefs” regarding.

The undersigned is directed to refer to Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare’s D.O. letter No. 4-41/2022-NFSM dated 14.08.2023 (copy enclosed) on the above subject and to say that DA&FW is organising a ‘cooking with Millets-Training Session with Chefs’ by chefs from Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) from 26-27 August, 2023 at IHM, Pusa, New Delhi. Multiple cooking sessions will be conducted over the 2 days.

  1. All the Ministries/Departments are requested to nominate at least 02-03 cooks from the non-statutory departmental canteens functioning under their administrative control in Delhi to attend the said training session and inform the names/details to Sh. Vijaykumar Hokrani, Assistant Director (Crops), DA&FW at vijay.hokrani@gov.in or programmer.nfsm@gmail.com latest by 23rd August under intimation to this department. This may be treated on priority.

Dear Majam,

As you are aware, the Government of India is at the forefront in celebrating 2023 as the International Year of Millets by making it a people’s movement.

With the aim of popularising consumption of millets and highlighting its myriad health benefits, the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (DA&FW) is organising a ‘Cooking with Millets – Training Session for Chefs’ by chefs from Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) from 26-27 August 2023 at IHM PUSA, New Delhi. Multiple cooking sessions will be conducted over the 2 days.

Accordingly, it is requested that the Department of Personnel and Training may kindly share a suggested list of chefs and cooks across the canteens of Ministries/Department of Government of India to participate in the training session, which will familiarise them with millets and thus help in incorporating millet dishes in canteen menus and meals. Kindly let this department know the number of participants that you can nominate.

Kindly share the list of participants with Mr. Vijaykumar Hokrani, Assistant Director (Crops), DA&FW at vijay.hokrani@gov.in or programmer.nfsm@gmail.com latest by 16 August 2023. It is requested that a nodal officer may be appointed from your department with whom DA&FW may coordinate for the contours of this event.
