The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has modified the eligibility criteria for officers seeking positions at the Additional Secretary and Secretary levels. The modifications relate to the required years of service and pay scales, specifically addressing those in the Central Staffing Scheme. The revised criteria include service in revised pay scales, Group A service, and residency in specific suitability lists. All-India Services officers allocated to different cadres and members of all services are subjected to stringent selection criteria. Special Committee of Secretaries (SCOS) would also lay emphasis on service rendered by such officers in posts falling under the Central Staffing Scheme in the Central Secretariat.
