Minutes of the Meeting taken by Director(Canteens) with Area Welfare Officer on 5^{th } November, 2014

As a follow up action on the directions given by Secretary(P) during a presentation on Welfare Division, Director(Canteens) invited first batch of following 10 AWOs on 05-112014 to discuss matters related to RWAs of their areas:-

At the outset Director(Canteens) told the AWOs that the aim of holding periodical meetings with the AWOs is to interact on RWA activities, area problems and suggestions for solving the problems.

  • Anil Kumar Pipal:- Shri Anil Kumar Pipal, AWO from Andrews Ganj area told that there is water supply problem in the area. He has taken up the matter with the concerned civic authority. It is expected that the problem will be solved soon. He further stated that the RWA has undertaken cleanliness drive in view of PM’s Swachh Bharat Mission. Director(Canteens) asked the AWO to send some photographs of cleanliness drive undertaken by the RWA. When asked about his suggestions for review of Model Constitution of RWAs, the AWO suggested that proxy voting right may be considered for the RWA members from armed forces who have been posted in far office areas and are unable to be present and vote. Director(Canteens) asked the AWO to provide statistics on such category of RWA members for taking a view on his suggestion. The AWO also suggested that the ceiling of minimum 200
    membership of RWAs for DOPT’s recognition may be removed and that the AWOs may be given some cash incentives. The other AWOs suggested that instead of cash, an appreciation letter may be given to the best AWOs. Director(Canteens) told the AWO that Managing Committee already has provision of relaxation condition of minimum membership of 200, if justified.

  • Ashok Kumar- Shri Ashok Kumar, AWO from Palam stated that although there are number of Governmnt employees residing in Palam area yet no CGERWA exist in the area. He stated that due to frequent power supply cut in the area, there is electric problem in the Wellness Centre. He has taken up the matter with concerned authorities. It is understood that a DG set has been procured for the Wellness Centre. The DG set is expected to be installed soon. He stated that Aurvedic facility is not available in the Wellness Centre. Besides, Medical Specialists do no visit the Wellness Centre. CGHS beneficiaries have to visit other Wellness Centres for these facilities. Director(Canteens) advised the AWO to take up with DG Health Services.

  • Sajjan Singh- Shri Sajjan Singh, AWO from NanakPura Area stated that there is no major problem in the area. Keeping in view, Swachh Bharat Mission, he made efforts to undertake cleanliness drive in the area and called RWA office bearers for participation in the drive. However, only two RWA office bearers turned up. Director(Canteens) felt that we may issue a circular to all the RWAs requesting them to cooperate with AWO of their Area for effective role of RWA. It was also stated that the Community Centre of GKK in Nanakpura area had collapesed. He requested that it may be re-build.

  • Suggestions was also made by the AWOs that a meeting of Civic Authorities with the AWOs may be arranged by DOPT to impress upon them to give due attention to the letters of the AWOs. Director(Canteens) agreed to issue a letter to all Civic Authorities in this regard.
