A recent government directive has facilitated the inter-cadre transfer of an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. Shri Prateek Jain, an officer from the 2022 batch previously assigned to the Kerala cadre, has been moved to the Gujarat cadre. This transfer was approved on humanitarian grounds, specifically due to his marriage to Ms. Vandana Meena, also a 2022 batch IAS officer, who is currently serving in the Gujarat cadre. This decision, issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Personnel & Training, follows the provisions of the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954, and received concurrence from both the Kerala and Gujarat State Governments, demonstrating a flexible approach to administrative postings while accommodating personal circumstances.

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (2) of Rule 5 of the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954 and with the concurrence of the State Governments of Kerala and Gujarat, the Central Government hereby transfers Shri Prateek Jain, IAS (KL:2022) from Kerala cadre to Gujarat cadre on grounds of marriage to Ms. Vandana Meena, IAS (GJ:2022).
