Implementation of Sixth Central Pay Commission Recommendations on Half Pay Leave

This Office Memorandum details the restoration of half pay leave facilities for Teachers, Principals, Headmasters, Librarians, Laboratory Assistants, and Watermen working in schools under the Central Government. This decision stems from the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission and supersedes previous orders from 1981 and 1984. The changes are effective from September 1st, 2008, and formal amendments to the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972, will be issued separately. The memorandum is circulated to various government ministries, departments, and related organizations for implementation and awareness.

OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject:-Implementation of the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission regarding half pay leave facilities to Teachers, Principals, Headmasters, Librarians, Laboratory Assistants and Watermen working in schools under the Central Government.

Consequent upon the decisions taken by the Government on the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission, the President is pleased to decide that, in supersession of this Department’s O.M. No. 18011/3/80Estt.(Leave) dated 3^{rd } September, 1981 and Notification No. 18011/3/80-Estt.(L) dated 28 / 7 / 1984, the facility of half pay leave will be restored to Teachers, Principals, Headmasters, Librarians, Laboratory Assistants and Watermen working in schools under the Central Government, at par with other Central Government employees under the provisions of Rule 29 of the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972.

  1. These orders shall take effect from 1^{st } September, 2008.
  2. Formal amendments to the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972 are being issued separately.
