Ambedkar’s birthday. The decision is made under the authority of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881. All ministries and departments are instructed to disseminate this information to their respective personnel. The memorandum also lists the various organizations and individuals to whom this notification is being sent, including constitutional bodies, commissions, and employee welfare committees.

Subject: Holiday on 14th April, 2008 – Birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
It has been decided to declare Monday, the 14th April 2008, as a Closed Holiday on account of the birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, for all Central Government Offices including industrial establishments.
- The above holiday is also being notified in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881 (26 of 1881).
- All Ministries/Departments may bring the above decision to the notice of all concerned.
