Extension of Inter-Cadre Deputation for IAS Officer Shri Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid

E

The Central Government has recently approved a crucial extension for an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Shri Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid. This officer, from the 2017 Assam-Meghalaya cadre, will continue his inter-cadre deputation to the AGMUT cadre (specifically, the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir) for an additional year. This extension goes beyond the previously set date of July 7, 2024, and was granted by relaxing existing policy guidelines. Such extensions are significant in ensuring continuity in administrative roles, especially in regions like Jammu & Kashmir. However, the approval comes with strict stipulations for various government departments and the officer himself. Chief Secretaries of Assam and Meghalaya, along with the Ministry of Home Affairs, have been informed to ensure the officer’s prompt relief at the end of the extended tenure. Financial authorities, including the Accountant Generals of Assam, Meghalaya, and Jammu & Kashmir, have been instructed to cease salary payments if the officer fails to hand over charge by the approved date. It’s a clear signal that failing to comply with the deputation end date will result in disciplinary action and a break in service for the officer, underscoring the importance of adhering to administrative protocols.
