The Competent Authority has granted ex post facto approval for the extension of deputation tenure for Shri A.K. Pateria, IPS, Joint Director of CBI, until December 6, 2013, coinciding with the completion of his NDC training. Following the training, the officer is required to return to his parent cadre. Importantly, the ACC has expressed its displeasure to the CBI for permitting an officer, whose tenure was extended for functional reasons, to undertake long-term training before the end of his extended deputation period. Consequently, the CBI has been instructed to consider this directive from the ACC when approving or proposing training programs for its officers.

Ex post facto approval of the Competent Authority is hereby conveyed to the extension in the deputation tenure of Shri A.K. Pateria, IPS (MP:1986), Joint Director, CBI beyond 15.5.2013 for a period upto 06.12.2013 i.e. the date of completion of NDC training course. After completion of the training, the officer must report back to his cadre.
2. The ACC while approving the above extension has conveyed its displeasure to the CBI for allowing an officer, who was granted extension of tenure on functional necessity, to go for long term training before completion of his extended tenure.
3. CBI is directed to keep the above direction of the ACC in mind while approving / proposing such training programmes for its officers.
