Declaration of Holiday on 14th April, 2011 – Birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

This office memorandum announces that Thursday, April 14th, 2011, will be observed as a closed holiday throughout India in recognition of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birthday. The declaration applies to all Central Government Offices and Industrial Establishments. The holiday is also being officially notified under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. All Ministries and Departments are instructed to disseminate this information to relevant parties. A comprehensive list of organizations and individuals to whom this memorandum is addressed is also provided, including various commissions, secretariats, and government bodies.

Subject: Declaration of Holiday on 14th April, 2011- Birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

It has been decided to declare Thursday, the 14th April 2011, as a Closed Holiday on account of the birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, for all Central Government Offices including Industrial Establishments throughout India.

  1. The above holiday is also being notified in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (26 of 1881).
  2. All Ministries/Departments of Government of India may bring the above decision to the notice of all concerned.
