This office memorandum details the extension of ad-hoc appointments for Personal Assistants (PAs) in the PA Grade of the Central Secretariat Service Scheme (CSSS). Initially permitted until June 30, 2011, the ad-hoc appointments have been reviewed and will now be extended up to December 31, 2011, or until regular PAs are available, whichever comes first. This decision is due to delays in the regular recruitment process under the CSSS Rules. The memorandum is addressed to the Under Secretary (Admn.) of the 40 Cadre Units of CSSS.

Subject: Continuance of ad-hoc appointments in PA Grade of CSSS – regarding.
The undersigned is directed to refer to this Department’s O.M. of even number dated 6.1.2011 whereby Cadre Units were permitted to continue the ad-hoc appointments in the PA Grade of CSSS upto 30.06.2011 and to say that the continuation of the ad-hoc appointments in the PA Grade made by the Cadre Units have been reviewed in this Department. Since availability of regular PAs through normal modes of recruitment prescribed under the CSSS Rules may take some more time, it has been decided that the period of ad-hoc appointment of those PAs who have already been working as PAs on ad-hoc basis may be extended upto 31.12.2011 or till regular PAs become available, whichever is earlier.
