OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject:- Central Administrative Tribunal – Single Member
Bench of the Tribunal to dispose of cases –
Constitution –

As Ministries/Departments of the Central Government
are aware that the Central Administrative Tribunal was set
up w.e.f. 1.11.85 to deal with service matters of Central
Government employees with a view to provide inexpensive and
quick relief to the Government employees for redressal of
their grievances arising out of service matters. Keeping
this objective in view, the Chairman of C.A.T. has constituted
Single Member Benches who are competent to exercise the
jurisdiction, powers and authority of the Tribunal with respect
to a number of cases. A copy of order No. 1/32/87-JA/5302
dated the 26th June, 1987 issued by the Chairman of the CAT
is enclosed for information and guidance.

  1. It is requested that the contents of the aforesaid
    order dated 26.6.87 may please be circulated and brought to
    the notice of all concerned.
