Clarifications Regarding Foreign Visits of State Information Commissioners

Subject: Foreign Visits of the State Chief Information Commissioners and Information Commissioners – Clarifications regarding.


Sir,

I am directed to say that a question has been raised whether the State Chief Information Commissioners and the State Information Commissioners are required to obtain the approval of this Department for going abroad on official visit.

  1. Decision regarding foreign visit of the State Chief Information Commissioner and other State Information Commissioners of a State may be taken by the Governor of that State. Approval of this Department in the matter is not required. However, clearance from the Central Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of External Affairs etc. may be obtained as per extant instructions.
