NOTIFICATION

S.O. …….. In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to article 309 and clause (5) of article 148 of the Constitution and after consultation with the Comptroller and Auditor General in relation to persons serving in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department, the President hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964, namely:

  1. Short title and commencement: (1) These rules may be called the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Amendment Rules, 1972.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the official Gazette.

  1. Amendment of rule 22: In rule 22 of the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964, –

(i) after clause (5), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:

“(bb) refrain from consuming any intoxicating drink or drug in a public place;”

(ii) the following Explanation shall be inserted at the end, namely:

“Explanation: For the purposes of this rule, ‘public place’ means any place or premises (including a conveyance) to which the public have, or are permitted to have, access, whether on payment or otherwise.”
