A recent decision by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has cleared the way for a significant personnel move within India’s police service. Shri Thianghlima Pachuau, an Indian Police Service officer from the 1987 batch of the Manipur-Tripura cadre, has been approved for an inter-cadre deputation. He will now serve in the Mizoram segment of the AGMUT cadre for a term of three years. This particular transfer involves a relaxation of existing policy guidelines, granted specifically for administrative reasons. It’s also been noted that should this officer be engaged in any duties related to elections during his deputation, prior consent from the Election Commission of India will be a prerequisite.
