The Central Government has appointed Shri G.N. Mehra, a retired IAS officer, as the Chairman of the State Advisory Committee. This committee will assist the Central Government in matters concerning State Government employees, excluding All India Services. The appointment is effective from January 1, 2001, for a period of nine months or until further notice. Shri Mehra will serve on an honorary basis and will be entitled to travelling and daily allowances as per Central Government rules for officers of his rank. He will also have access to telephone and transport facilities. His role will be governed by the guidelines issued by the Department of Personnel & Training regarding the constitution of the State Advisory Committee. Copies of this order have been sent to the Chief Secretaries of Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal to arrange for the payment of a consolidated fee and other admissible dues to Shri Mehra, with the latter also responsible for apportioning the total amount in consultation with the Uttaranchal government.

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 76 of the Uttar Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2000, the Central Government is pleased to appoint Shri G.N. Mehra (IAS 1955 UP – Retired), as Chairman of the State Advisory Committee, to assist the Central Government in discharging its functions in regard to the State Government employees other than All India Services for a period of 9 months w.e.f. 1st January, 2001 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The terms of appointment of Shri G.N. Mehra are enclosed.
