Amendment to Indian Police Service (Pay) Rules, 2007 Regarding Director General Posts

A

Exciting updates have been issued for the Indian Police Service concerning the structure and calculation of senior leadership positions. New provisions clarify how posts in the prestigious Director General grade, specifically those in the HAG+ scale (Rs. 75,500-annual increment @ 3% – Rs. 80,000), will be counted. Moving forward, for the purpose of assessing the number of posts beyond the standard cadre in this high-ranking pay scale, all existing cadre posts for the Director General of Police (who also serves as the Head of the Police force) will be factored into the equation. Furthermore, a critical point has been established: no additional ex-cadre posts for the Director General of Police in the Apex scale, carrying a salary of Rs. 80,000/-, will be created. These adjustments aim to streamline the administrative framework and ensure clarity in the progression and allocation of top-tier police leadership roles.
