NOTIFICATION
GSR no………. In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the All India Services Act, 1951 (61 of 1951), the Central Government, after consultation with the Government of the States concerned hereby makes the following rules further to amend the All India Services (Death-Cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958, namely –
1 (1) These rules may be called the All India Services (Death-CumRetirement Benefits) Amendment Rules, 2005.
(2) They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2 In the All India Services (Death-Cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958 under Rule 16, after sub-rule (1 A), the following shall be inserted namely:-
“(1B) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-rule (1), the Central Government may, if it considers necessary in the public interest so to do, give extension to the Cabinet Secretary in the Central Government for such period as it may deem proper, subject to the condition that the total term of the incumbent of the post of the Cabinet Secretary, who is given such extension in service, does not exceed two years.”
