The Central Civil Services Cultural & Sports Board (CCSCSB) has announced the celebration of National Sports Day on August 29th, 2024, commemorating the legacy of Hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand and the launch of the Fit India Mission. The event will feature a range of sporting competitions including Athletics, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, and Hockey, open to all civilian employees of the Government of India in Delhi/New Delhi. Participants are invited to submit their entries by August 28th, 2024, and can avail of ‘special casual leave’ to participate. Specific eligibility criteria exclude uniformed personnel, employees of autonomous bodies, and those on temporary duty. A detailed proforma is provided for event selection and a disclaimer regarding potential risks is included.

CIRCULAR
Sub : National Sports Day on 29.8.2024
The National Sports Day is celebrated on 29th August of every year to mark the tradition of sports in India and as a tribute to the Hockey legend Major dhyan Chand. Fit India Mission was also launched on this day in 2019. The Government of India, Department of Sports purposes to celebrate the National Sports Day with the theme of Sports as an enabler for an inclusive and fit society.
- In line with the above, Central Civil Services Cultural and Sports Board (CCSCSB) is organizing following events on 29.8.2024 on the occasion of National Sports Day.
(i) Athletic 100 Mtr (Men and Women)
(ii) Athletic – Lemon race, Sack Race, Tug of War (Men and Women)
(iii) Football (Men and Women)
(iv) Volleyball (Men and Women)
(v) Basketball (Men and Women)
(vi) Hockey Penalty Shootout (Men and Women) - Fit India Pledge to all the participants will be solemnised at 10.30 AM on 29.8.2024.

All Civilian employees of Government of India posted in Delhi/New Delhi are invited to participate in the event The interested participants can submit their entry in the duly filled in prescribed proforma as per Annexure-I by 28th August, 2024 in the office of Central Civil Services Cultural & Sports Board, Room No 361, ‘B’ Wing, 3^{rd } Floor, Lok Nayak Bhavan, Khan Market, New Delhi – 110003. Entries can also be forwarded to the email ID ccscsbsportsboard@gmail.com. On spot entries will also be accepted at the venue. The participants shall report at -9.00 AM on 29.8.2024 at Vinay Marg Sports Complex, Chankya Puri, New Delhi.

The participants will be grouped into teams. Major Dhyan Chand Trophy will be awarded to the winners and runners up in team event only.

Participants shall be allowed to avail “special casual leave” as per Circular number F.No.6/1/85-Estt.(Pay-I) dated 16.7.1985. The Ministries/Departments are requested to allow their employees to participate in the above event liberally. They will submit a
participation certificate issued by CCSCSB to their Departments. The participants must carry their Office Identity card for verification. The Certificates will be distributed after the end of the programme. -
The following categories of employees are not eligible for participation in this competition:-
(a) Uniformed personnel in Defence Services/Para Military Organisations/ Central Police Organisation/Police/RPF/CISF/BSF/ITBP/NSG etc.
(b) Employees of Autonomous bodies/Undertakings/Public Sector Banks/Corporations even though administratively controlled by the Central Ministries.
(c) Casual/Daily wages workers.
(d) Employees attached to offices on temporary duty.
In case, at any time, it is found that a player included in the team is not eligible, the team would stand automatically disqualified from the tournament.
