Postponement of All India Civil Services Tournaments and Competitions, 2019-20

Due to an advisory from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare regarding the spread of COVID-19, the Central Civil Services Cultural & Sports Board has decided to postpone all remaining All India Civil Services Tournaments and Competitions scheduled for March 2020. This includes events in Hockey, Cricket, Lawn Tennis, Music, Dance, and Short Play. The decision follows queries from states regarding mass gatherings and aims to reduce the risk of spreading the novel coronavirus. States and relevant sports bodies have been informed of this postponement.

Reference is invited to CCSCSB’s Circulars of even number issued from time to time on the above subject. Ministry of Health and Family Welfare vide O.M. no. Z-21020/14/2020-PH dated 5.3.2020 has issued an advisory to reduce/postpone mass gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID-19 Noval Coronavirus disease till the disease spread is contained (copy enclosed).

  1. In view of the above advisory issued by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, it has been decided to postpone all the remaining AICS Tournaments/Competitions scheduled to be held during the month of March, 2020 namely AICS Hockey, AICS Cricket, AICS Lawn Tennis and AICS Music, Dance & Short Play.

  2. This is for information of all States/RSBs.

Subject: Query from states on mass gatherings – reg

Kindly recall queries raised by states on organisations of mass gathering etc. In view of the above, it is highlighted that:

  • Experts across the World have advised to reduce mass gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus disease. In view of above, it is advised that mass gatherings may be avoided or possibly be postponed till the disease spread is contained.
  • In case any such mass gatherings are organised, States may take necessary action to guide the Organisers on precautions to be taken as per the risk communication material already sent so as to avoid any Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) cases and Influenza Like Illness (ILIs) including Covid-19.

States may take necessary action accordingly in the matter.
