OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject : Medical Checkup of canteen employees – Regarding.
The undersigned is directed to invite attention of the Ministries/Deptts. to para 7.6- Personal Hygiene and Medical examination of the canteen workers in chapter VII Hygiene and Sanitation in the Administrative Instructions on Departmental Canteens in Government Offices and Industrial Establishments (second edition 1988) and to say that references were received in this office seeking clarifications for medical checkup of canteen employees. The matter has been examined in consultation with C.G.H.S., Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and it is advised that the Head of the Department concerned may write to the Chief Medical Officer Incharge of the concerned CGHS dispensary for medical checkup of the canteen employees, in case the employee is a CGHS beneficiary. If the employee is not a CGHS beneficiary, the employee may be sent to the nearest Government hospital to get him medically examined.
- All the Ministries/Deptts. are requested to follow the above decision and bring these instructions to the notice of Attached and Subordinate offices under them for compliance.
