OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Sub: Promotion of Assistant to the grade of Section Officer of CSS on ad-
hoc basis.
The undersigned is directed to say that this Department had extended the zone for ad-hoc promotion vides OM of even number dated 14.8.2008. As per the zone fixed, Assistants upto SCSL 1995 (General), SCSL 1996(SC) and SCSL 1998 (ST) are eligible for ad-hoc promotion within the cadre, subject to availability of vacancies.
2. It has since been reported by few cadre authorities that they are unable to promote some eligible Assistants of SL 1993 \& 1994 within the cadre for want of vacancies. Some affected Assistants have also represented to this department seeking redressal of their grievance.
3. It has now been decided to carry out a comprehensive review of the entire matter relating to ad-hoc promotion in the grade of Section Officer. All cadre authorities are, therefore, requested to intimate urgently the details of Assistants of Select List 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995,1996 (SC\&ST), 1997(ST) \& 1998(ST) (SCSL wise and category wise) who have been promoted as ad-hoc SOs/who have not yet been promoted as ad-hoc Section Officers as on date alongwith other details in the enclosed format (Annexure).
4. The continuation of ad-hoc promotion beyond 31.12 .2008 would be decided only after receipt of the above details. The information may, therefore, be provided by 23.12 .2008 by FAX (No. 24649411 ) or by special messenger.
