This Office Memorandum addresses the promotion of 21 Grade-I (Under Secretary) officers to the Selection Grade (Deputy Secretary) on an ad hoc basis. It reiterates the requirement for officers to assume charge of their promoted posts within 30 days of the order, or risk cancellation of their promotion. Requests for extensions from the Staff Selection Commission, Prasar Bharti, and the Department of Telecommunications on behalf of specific officers were considered but ultimately denied. The memorandum firmly directs all concerned officers to assume charge by June 30th, 2014, to avoid automatic cancellation of their promotions.

However, Staff Selection Commission and Prasar Bharti, the controlling Organisations of Shri R K Ranjan and Shri Arvind Kumar respectively, have requested for extension of time in their case citing important work being handled by them. Another officer, Shri Shiv Mohan Dass Chawla, has also requested through his controlling Department, i.e., D/o Telecommunications for extension on personal grounds.
3. The competent authority has considered the requests for extension of time in respect of officers mentioned in para 2 but has not agree to it. It has been decided that the officers should assume the charge of the promoted posts by 30.6 .14 (FN) failing which their promotion order shall be cancelled forthwith without any further notice. SSC, Prasar Bharti etc. are, therefore, requested to direct the concerned officers to assume the charge of the promoted post by the stipulated date.
