OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject: (i) Select List for the year 2003 of the Officers of the Central Secretariat Service (CSS) for appointment to Grade-I (Under Secretary) of the Service.
(ii) Select Lists 2003 to 2008 of Grade I (Under Secretary) of CSS Details of Regular USs holding Duty Post in the CSS cadre or otherwise.

The undersigned is directed to refer to this Department’s OM of even number dated 25.08.2009 on the above subject and to state that the notifications in respect of few Officers are yet to be received in this Division. The same may kindly be expedited and made available to this Department in a time bound manner. As already state in Para 5 of the said OM dated 25.08.2009, in case any of the officers depicted in the Select List of 2003 cannot be appointed to the Grade I of the CSS, the same may be brought to the notice of this Department along with reasons. This is required for compiling the correct record/data for the Select List of 2003.-:2:-

1. This Department has already taken steps to bring out the Select Lists of 2004 to 2008 of the Grade I of the CSS and has requested all the Ministries/Departments to forward the information about the number of regular Under Secretaries who were holding the Duty Post of the CSS between 01.07.2003 to 30.06.2004 (Select List 2003); 01.07.2004 to 30.06.2005 (Select List 2004); and 01.07.2005 to 30.06.2006 (Select List 2005) vide this Department’s OM of even number dated 06.07.2009 and subsequent reminder of even number dated 30.07.2009. The said information is still awaited from Ministries/Departments as indicated in Annexure-I. Similar information is also required after issue of the Select List of 2003 in respect of the Under Secretaries as covered for calculation of vacancies for the Select Lists of Grade I of CSS for 2004 to 2008. The said information may now be made available for the period 01.07.2006 to 30.06.2007 (Select List 2006); 01.07.2007 to 30.06.2008 (Select List 2007); and 01.07.2008 to 30.06.2009 (Select List 2008).
