A significant step has been taken to resolve the long-standing issue of medical officer postings between Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Following a directive from the Hon’ble Uttarakhand High Court, the government has finalized the allocation for a cohort of Provincial Medical & Health Services (PMHS) doctors. This decision particularly addresses a group of 42 medical professionals, including 23 who had directly petitioned the court. The allocation process adheres strictly to the provisions of Section 73(2) of the UP Reorganization Act, 2000, ensuring a legally sound resolution. This move aims to bring clarity and stability to the careers of these doctors, ensuring they are formally assigned to their respective states based on a comprehensive review that considers factors such as seniority and state preferences, ultimately streamlining healthcare administration in both regions.
