A State Advisory Committee meeting on June 17, 2010, discussed the final allocation of the Justice Department of the former Uttar Pradesh. Out of five organizations under the department, two are statutory bodies outside the committee’s purview. The remaining three offices – Advocate General Office, Office of Official Liquidator, and Judicial Training Institute – had no employees willing to be allocated to Uttarakhand. Furthermore, the Uttarakhand government had already initiated recruitment in these organizations. Consequently, the committee recommended against bifurcating the Justice Department. The Government of India has accepted these recommendations and requests that necessary actions be taken accordingly, with this department to be kept informed.
