In a recent development, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its approval for the continued service of a prominent Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. Ms. Anindita Mitra, an IAS officer from the 2007 Punjab Cadre, who is currently serving as the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation in Chandigarh, will have her tenure extended. This extension allows her to continue her inter-cadre deputation from the Punjab Cadre to the AGMUT cadre (Chandigarh segment) for an additional three months, effective from August 22, 2024. This decision ensures continuity in the administration of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
