This notification introduces amendments to the Indian Police Service (Regulation of Seniority) Rules, 1988. The key changes focus on how seniority weightage is calculated for service rendered. Specifically, for service up to twelve years, one year of weightage is given for every four completed years of service (minimum three years). For service beyond twelve years up to twenty-one years, one year of weightage is granted for every three completed years. Finally, for service exceeding twenty-one years, one year of weightage is provided for every two completed years, capped at a maximum of three years. These rules are effective upon their publication in the Official Gazette.
