This notification, issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, introduces amendments to the Indian Administrative Service (Probation) Rules, 1954. Effective from January 1, 2015, these rules state that a probationer with less than four years of service for superannuation retirement, or one who has completed mid-career training category III, may not be required to undergo induction training. The document also lists historical amendments to the principal probation rules, dating back to 1954.

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 4th December, 2014
GS.R. 873(E).-In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the All India Services Act, 1951 (61 of 1951), the Central Government, after consultation with the State Governments, makes the following rules further to amend the Indian Administrative Service (Probation) Rules, 1954, namely:-
- (1) These rules may be called the Indian Administrative Service (Probation) Amendment Rules, 2014.
(2) They shall come into force from 01.01 .2015 . - In the Indian Administrative Service (Probation) Rules, 1954, for sub-rule (2) of rule 5, the following proviso shall be inserted namely:-
“Provided further that a probationer who has less than four years of service for retirement on superannuation at the time of his induction into IAS or has undergone mid-career training programme category III after induction, may not be nominated for Induction training. In such cases, the first proviso of the aforesaid sub-rule shall not be applicable.”
