All India Services (Joint Cadre) Amendment Rules, 2016

This notification introduces amendments to the All India Services (Joint Cadre) Rules, 1972. The “All India Services (Joint Cadre) Amendment Rules, 2016” will come into effect upon their publication in the Official Gazette. A key change is in rule 4, where sub-rule (2) is substituted to clarify that “The representatives of the Governments of the Constituent States, as specified by the Governments of such States, shall be members of an All India Service.” The principal rules were originally published in 1972.

MINISTRY OF PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES AND PENSIONS (DEPARTMENT OF PERSONNEL AND TRAINING) NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 12th January, 2016
G.S.R. 22(E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the All India Services Act, 1951 (61 of 1951), the Central Government, after consultation with the Governments of the States concerned, hereby makes the following rules, further to amend the All India Services (Joint Cadre) Rules, 1972, namely:-

  1. (i) These Regulations may be called the All India Services (Joint Cadre) Amendment Rules, 2016
    (ii) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
  2. In rule 4 of the All India Services (Joint Cadre) Rules, 1972, for sub-rule (2), the following sub-rule shall be substituted, namely:-
    “(2) The representatives of the Governments of the Constituent States, as specified by the Governments of such States, shall be members of an All India Service.”
