Inter-Cadre Transfer of IAS Officer Shri Mukund Thakur from Kerala to Chhattisgarh

I

In a recent development affecting the Indian Administrative Service, an inter-cadre transfer has been approved for an IAS officer. Such transfers are a well-established practice, particularly when civil servants marry across different state cadres. This specific instance involves Shri Mukund Thakur, an IAS officer from the 2020 batch, who will be moving from the Kerala cadre to the Chhattisgarh cadre. The decision, made by the Central Government with the concurrence of both state governments, facilitates the officer’s relocation following his marriage to Ms. Namrata Choubey, an IAS officer of the 2022 batch from the Chhattisgarh cadre. This type of administrative move, governed by specific rules like Rule 5 of the Indian Administrative Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954, ensures that personal circumstances, especially marriage, are accommodated within the framework of public service, allowing officers to continue their careers while managing their personal lives.
