Indian Police Service (Pay) 4th Amendment Rules, 1987 Notification

I

Exciting news for personnel within the Indian Police Service! A significant update to the service’s pay rules has been announced, aimed at modernizing compensation structures. These new amendments, officially titled the Indian Police Service (Pay) 4th Amendment Rules, 1987, have a retrospective effect, coming into force from January 1, 1986.

The revisions introduce fresh provisions within Schedule III-C, specifically addressing roles such as Assistant Inspector General, Commandant, and Principal of Training Colleges. These changes detail their Senior Scale and Selection Grade compensation, marking an important step in recognizing the contributions of these key positions.

This comprehensive update is a direct outcome of the Fourth Central Pay Commission’s recommendations, reflecting a broader effort to revise pay scales across both All India Services and Central Civil Services Group ‘A’. A crucial aspect of these amendments is the assurance that no member of the Indian Police Service will be adversely impacted by their retrospective application, emphasizing fairness and employee welfare. This move signifies a proactive approach to ensure that the compensation framework remains competitive and equitable for our dedicated police force.
