Indian Police Service (Pay) Fourth Amendment Rules, 1994

I

Exciting news for police officers across the nation! The government has recently introduced significant amendments to the pay structure, designed to bring greater clarity and fairness to remuneration and seniority. These new rules, officially named the ‘Indian Police Service (Pay) Fourth Amendment Rules, 1994,’ address critical aspects of salary fixation and career progression. A key highlight ensures that officers’ pay fixation will not inadvertently place them in a grade lower than their allotted assignment, especially under the Indian Police Service (Regulation of Seniority) Rules, 1988. Furthermore, detailed guidelines have been provided for situations where an officer’s pay stage might align with two different Senior Scale grades, ensuring they are appropriately placed in the lower of the two. These amendments also refine the terminology within existing rules, specifically updating references to ‘senior time scale’ to ‘senior scale,’ streamlining the official lexicon. This move reflects a continuous commitment to enhancing the welfare and career framework for our dedicated police force.
