Important updates have been issued regarding the pay structure for officers of the Indian Forest Service. New amendments, effective retrospectively from January 1, 2006, provide clarity on how pay will be fixed for those promoted to the Higher Administrative Grade (HAG) scale, ranging from Rs. 67,000 to Rs. 79,000. Under these revised guidelines, officers can opt to have their pay fixed from the 1st of July in the year they receive their next increment in the lower scale. The new methodology involves adding Rs. 2,000 to the basic pay on promotion, with a stipulated minimum of Rs. 67,000. Furthermore, provisions allow for a subsequent re-fixation of pay on the next increment date (July 1st), accounting for two increments—one annual and one specifically for the promotion. It has also been confirmed that these retrospective changes are not expected to adversely affect any member of the Indian Police Service.
