This notification details amendments to the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964, specifically regarding the acceptance of gifts by government servants. It clarifies that gifts of symbolic nature from foreign dignitaries may be accepted and retained. For gifts not of symbolic nature, retention is permitted if the market value in the country of origin does not exceed Rs. 3,000. Any doubts regarding the nature or value of gifts must be regulated by instructions issued by the Government. The rules also prohibit accepting gifts from foreign firms currently contracting with, or likely to contract with, the Indian Government. A list of previous amendments to the CCS (Conduct) Rules, 1964, is also provided, along with a distribution list for the notification.
