This notification announces the appointment of Shri Justice P. Shanmugam, currently the Vice-Chairman of the Central Administrative Tribunal’s Madras Bench, to act as the Chairman of the Central Administrative Tribunal. This acting role will commence on January 19, 2007, and will continue until a new Chairman is appointed or until Justice Shanmugam reaches the age of sixty-five, whichever comes first. The appointment is made by the Central Government under the powers granted by the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985.

NOTIFICATION
S.O. (E) In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 7 of the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985 (13 of 1985), the Central Government hereby authorizes Shri Justice P. Shanmugam, Vice-Chairman, Central Administrative Tribunal, Madras Bench to act as Chairman, Central Administrative Tribunal, with effect from the 19th January, 2007 until the date on which a new Chairman, appointed in accordance with the provisions of Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985 (13 of 1985) enters upon his office, or the date on which Shri Justice P. Shanmugam attains the age of sixty five years or until further orders, whichever is the earliest.
