This official communication from the Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Personnel & Training, conveys approval for the reappointment of Shri Ravi Kant, IPS (OR:1998), as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). This reappointment is in compliance with the Supreme Court of India’s order dated May 8, 2013, in WP (Crl.) No. 120 of 2012 concerning Manohar Lal Sharma vs. the Principal Secretary & Others. The purpose of Shri Ravi Kant’s role as DIG CBI is to conduct inquiries and investigations related to the allocation of Coal Blocks. Upon completion of his duties in the CBI, Shri Ravi Kant will be reverted back to the Intelligence Bureau (IB). The letter also includes a copy to several entities, including the Central Vigilance Commissioner, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Joint Director (Admn.) of CBI for necessary further orders, the Director (Technical) at NIC for updating the DOPT website, and internal file records.

In compliance of the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India’s Order dated 8th May 2013 in WP (Crl.) No. 120 of 2012 – Manohar Lal Sharma Vs. the Principal Secretary & Others, approval of the competent authority is conveyed for reappointment of Shri Ravi Kant, IPS (OR:1998) as DIG CBI for the purpose of enquiry and investigation into allocation of Coal Blocks. Shri Ravi Kant, IPS will be reverted back to IB on completion of assigned duties in CBI.
