The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has observed that many Ministries/Departments are forwarding proposals requesting for ex-post facto approval of the Competent Authority for appointments in the personal staff of Ministers. The ACC has reiterated that prior approval is required for all appointments in the personal staff of Ministers (other than Private Secretaries) at the level of Deputy Secretary and above, and for Private Secretaries, ACC approval is required for all levels. All Ministries/Departments are requested to take note of these directions for future compliance.

While considering a proposal for ex-post facto approval of the appointment of an officer as OSD to a Minister at Deputy Secretary Jevel, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) observed that many Ministries/Departments are forwarding proposals requesting for ex-post facto approval of the Competent Authority for appointments in the personal staff of Ministers.
2. The ACC has reiterated its directions that prior approval of the ACC is required for all appointments in the personal staff of Ministers (other than Private Secretaries) at the level of Deputy Secretary and above. For appointments as Private Secretaries, ACC approval is required for all levels.
3. All Ministries/Departments are requested to please take note of these directions of the ACC for futut compliance.
