The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has established a policy that sets a ceiling of 10 years for an officer’s tenure in the personal staff of a Union Minister, including a sub-limit of 5 years as PS/OSD. This policy restricts appointments to ministerial staff beyond these limits. However, these tenure instructions will not be applicable to officers currently serving on the personal staff of ministers and who are proposed to be retained beyond their tenure until the completion of the next General Elections.
